Dan Ryan is a commercial and technology lawyer with over 15 years’ high-level advisory and transactional experience in Asia with particular expertise in Greater China. 

Mr Ryan advises companies on structuring, negotiating and brokering deals with Chinese / Asian clients. 

He began his career working for leading international law firms (Baker & McKenzie, Freshfields) in their corporate, intellectual property and technology groups. 

He has since worked as general counsel for a range of companies in the finance, technology and commodities/resources sectors. 

He has worked in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong and currently splits his time between Australia and China.  

He was recently appointed by the Australian Foreign Minister to be a board member of the Australia-China Council, the peak independent body advising the Australian Government on commercial and strategic issues relating to the China relationship. 

He speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese to a very high professional level.
